Farming, including corn, is becoming a far more complicated and volatile business, and we see many challenges ahead. But they’re nothing we can’t overcome. The biggest challenge may well be flat prices, which means farmers will have to continue to cut costs and get more efficient if they want to boost profits. The USDA forecasts prices may actually wind up lower than the current neighborhood of $4 a bushel over the next decade or so; the Congressional Budget Office concurs.
